In the article, “Why? The Neuroscience of Suicide”, in the February 00 issue of Scientific American, Carol Ezzell explains to us that scientists may have found a cause for suicide. Scientists believe that suicide has to do with a malfunction of the serotonin system in the brain. Research has been concentrated on the prefrontal cortex because this is where the functions of the brain take place. Serotonin exerts calmness over the mind.
