This book examines the representational basis of media minority relation in Canada. The mainstream media in Canada, through their awesome influence over our lives. This book is been divided to three sections, first section talks about relationship between media, racism and multiculturalism. Canada is a multiculturalism county, the image of Canada are open, secular and largely tolerant society. But there is growing concern that things are not what they seem. mainstream media is racist . Second sections talks about miscasting minorities. It is one thing to acknowledge the exixtence of multiculturalism in Canada. It is quite another to explain the placement of the mainstream media within the framework of official multiculturalism and to concede the impact of both systemic and subliminal racism in undermining the shift toward an inclusive and multicultural media .Third sections talks about racastiong the mould. The miscasting of minorities by mainstram media processes is widely acknowledged. Tv programming remains locked into the formulaic and derivative, with a corresponding negative impace in depicting minorities. Canadians take great pride in their countrys commitment to multiculturalism. Institutions that deny ethnic and racial diversity are not only seen as offensive, but they also compromise th challenge of crafting a progresive Canada.

This book speaks a lot of truth about media that I have never think about it before. Some of the ideas from the book really teached me some lessons and relate to my personal life. I watch Tv almost everyday, but for most times, I watch it just for relaxing and never think deepper about what Im watching. I always listen to the media and follow their judgements, I think I maybe got brainwashed when i was paying no attention to myself, I do what the media says think what the media says . I just got mislead by the mass media. I prefer my clothing style because the stars on Tv are wearing it, because they sponser pays them. I laugh at the blacks because some Tv shows are made by whites are keep making fun of blacks. I feel in the past few years I have lived like a robot, just follow the media and never against them. I wont let them fool me again.

This book really teachs me some good lessons. I learned so many things about media in Canada and around the world , and how media affecting our personal lives. The first thing I learned is in chapter two, media in Canada have long been accused of being racist. I always think media is fair and justice, but the book tells me racism are everywhere, Tv Shows, commercials, writters, owners even governments. They all stand for personal views and sometimes talks no repect to each other. Its like war in the medias. I also learned that some media are controlled by the local government. They have to say what the goverments tell them to say and never say anything that against them. I found out that multiculturalism can be defined as a process of constructively engaging diversity as different yet equal. I also learned mainstream media tend to portray minority women and men as ornamental feature of society. I also learned the news are bias . The news media tend to see themselves as relatively unbiased. the example from the book , if a white and black done the same crime in America, the media will says the white are individual problems, but the black are dangerious for the whole societs. I was misleading by those news and a lot of people in china think blacks are dangeous people ! thats so unfair for the blacks !
